Ultima Hosts are now offering a full refund on your initial plan when you upgrade to a higher level plan.

This upgrade must take place within the first 90 days of your initial sign-up.

In essence what it means is that you get your initial period free when you choose to upgrade as your plan restarts with the  new upgrade.

Here  is an example of an Upgrade Path. You start with the Standard.Net at $120 for the year. After 88 days you decide that you really need more domains so you upgrade to the Professional.Net plan. We refund you the $120 and you pay $180. Your Standard.Net plan ends and the Professional plan begins with a 12 months term. So in effect you had 88 free hosting days.

Can I upgrade a second time on the Upgrade Path?

Yes - for the second upgrade you have 30 days to take advantage of the Upgrade Path. The Upgrade Path does not apply to future upgrades during the plan term 

Caveat - You cannot upgrade to a plan that is on special. SSL plans must upgrade to a plan with the same number of SSL's. The SSL is not refundable nor can its date be reset. If you have not applied for one during the plan you are free to upgrade to a non-SSL plan.
