    RileyTech.net

My site is full of stuff, sql, ajax (use to be called atlas), some coding, past sites I've done, etc etc etc.  It looks like crap but my graphic designer is about to get a hold of it and make it look pretty.  Otherwise, take a look, let me know what you think and any questions, feel free to ask.

From a developer's perspective, your site is definitely well organized and content oriented; I like it. From a designer's perspective, I can't wait to see how it is once it's "pretty"!

I like to dab in web design a little:

    Re: RileyTech.net

I know its terrible!  www.mlbonneville.com (its a friend of mine) does a great job and we've been doing some other sites recently (ones that bring in $$) so we're more focused on that as of right now -- but if you want an idea as to what she can do, look under "Past Websites" and click A to Z dance, check out the pictures of it.

She did her magic on it, made it look great and its the EXACT same site just some graphics and some styling.  Too bad the owner decided to go with frontpage instead of uber managed code and easy interface :-(

    Re: RileyTech.net

I've added a ton of stuff to the site recently -- been expecting the (day job) big boss man to ask for things for his site so I pound 'em out on mine first (its usually painful) but check it out, let me know what you think.  I've got a code section now, along with a sharepoint style site thats in the works (Beta 2 hates me).

And no ...it still looks like crap :(

    Re: RileyTech.net

I agree that your navigation is good.  The design isn't all that bad.  It's clean and simple, which can be refreshing from all the other sites that have so much #$%&* that you can't find anything.

I'm certainly no graphic designer, but my only immediate thought on your current design is that when your navigation menu expands to the right and covers text (i.e. Past Websites), you should use a different background color for the nav box because white on white is difficult to see...it makes your navigation text get lost in the content it is hovering over.

I'll go back to my glass house now.  :-)

    Re: RileyTech.net

It's funny you mentioned that -- I've said a few colorful words to myself regarding the colors and the impossibility of seeing one overlaying the other.  I've just been lazy as to change it ...which I definately need to do.  Might even do that right now :-x  Time to steal code off another one of my sites.
