    Should I consider Ultima Hosting?

I am currently hosting with GoDaddy and we have hit a brick wall with the size limits placed on the SQL db. We need to move on to somewhere else that is better suited for Community Server.

For planning purposes we would likely have 2,000 users and 30,000 threads within 2-3 years. Will Ulitma suffice?

    Current Site: www.portlandhikers.com

All feedback both from Ultima and Ultima customers is appreciated.

    Thanks, Jeff

Re: Should I consider Ultima Hosting?

    The short answer:  Yes

The SQL databases at Ultima are only limited to the storage space in the plan.  For example, if you get a plan with 5GB of storage, your SQL database could conceivably be up to 5GB.  It would likely only be about 4.5GB since you'll need space for your web files, web logs and email accounts.

How big are your database files now (data file and log file)?

You can also get a free demo account and load your site and database to the demo account to see how it runs.

Thanks for the quick responses!  (I'm with thehikingdude that logged the original question)

We are below a gig at the moment, and will probably grow by 500 mg per year - so the 5 gig plans suffice nicely for the time being.

Re: Should I consider Ultima Hosting?

We can always accomodate your growth from a shared to VPS to a dedicated server. We are also able to do this quickly so if your grow fast we can move you up just as quickly. There have been a few examples of sites which started with a basic plan and quickly had over 40,000 hits a day which prompted them to move to their own VPS. We can also arrange for your own dedicated mail and SQL servers as required.

    Cheers,

I highly recommend Ultima. I'm currently running a CS site (1000 users, 100000 posts) on Ultima, performance and service are outstanding.
