    Space Overage Update

    Dear Ultima Hosts Customers,

From the Monday 6th August, 2007 we will be measuring hosting space usage on a daily basis. This scheduled task is set to run at 4am EDT (GMT-4) each morning. If your hosting space exceeds 100% it will be automatically suspended. You will need to contact support@ultimahosts.net to have your hosting account reactivated. We advise that if you’re hosting space is exceeding 90% of its resources that you purchase extra space to avoid the plan suspension. You can use this link to purchase the extra space required:

    http://www.ultimahosts.net/products/ultimaspace

Ultima Hosts support staff will reset a hosting plan twice if it has been suspended due to an overage. If the plan is suspended a third time due to an overage then extra space must be purchased before the plan is reactivated.

You can also monitor your usage via dot net panel under the Space Home page. You can also get up to the minute space calculations via File Manager > Calculate Diskspace.

Please see this link for more details on this function:

    http://help.dotnetpanel.com/User%20Guide/File%20Manager.aspx#Section14

Resellers please note that nested spaces (clients) are also calculated. If you assign a client 10MB and they use 20MB then this will cause there space to be suspended. As a reseller you can re-activate their account and also add more space to their plan.

If you have any questions please contact support@ultimahosts.net

    Kind Regards,

    Ultima Support Team

    Re: Space Overage Update

... sorry to cast a dissenting voice here, but automatic suspension is a horrible decision. An urgent email giving a few days notice is acceptable, but to not even offer a limited range, say 10-15% overage resulting in email, anything more resulting in the aggressive suspension.... this would be more reasonable. This surely doesn't feel right, it feels more like a scare tactic/cash grab.

    Re: Space Overage Update

We actually do send out emails when we can. The space checker runs every morning at 4 am so if your site is over or nearing it's limit we will contact you for action.

    Cheers,

that is awesome.. i am not that close to the limit, but i would feel for anyone who has a client or two that for whatever reason manages to overload an account and blow it for a bunch of others.. cheers Mark, and thank you.. drew..

    Re: Space Overage Update

    Hello Drew,

Thanks for your feedback. If you had a client who was exceeding their own space limit then their account would be suspended first. This should in theory stop the client from being able to suspend the reseller's account which they are under.

    Cheers,

    Mark

    Re: Space Overage Update

You will all be glad to know that DNP has introduced an email notification system based on % of resources used. So from now on you will get an email once you have reached say 90% of resource usage. We should have this implemented over the next few weeks.

    Cheers,

    Mark
