    FAO: Ultima Mark

I've developed my own custom ecommerce system, branching off from the CSK (added new site categories etc). Because of this, I don't/cant install the application from the applications installer.

Is it possible to send the files to someone on here (i.e. Ultima Mark) to upload the site?

The other thing I was wondering is that the site requires the ASP_NET membership sql script but this doesn't execute on my copy of SQL Server but I executed it fine on MyLittleAdmin in the database I've got, which is from an install of CSK from the App-Installer. The name is the same as specified in the web.config file.

    Thanks

    Hello Blade,

All you need to do is FTP your files up to the wwwroot folder and also create a bak file (backup) of your current MSSQL database. Restore the database to one created on our servers and update your connection string.

I'm not sure I understand your aspnet membership question. Can you give me more information on this?

    Cheers,

    Mark

    Re: FAO: Ultima Mark

The asp.net membership question doesn't matter anymore. The reason I asked about this is that in a webcast of uploading the CSK, the membership scripts existant on the site's download sections are mentioned.

The problem is, in the uploading of files and so forth, I don't have a wwwroot folder. I remember this in existance before I uploaded anything. Can you give me the folder structure that used to exist? I remember there being something like wwwroot, data and another folder. I guess this is my naivety in practise!

I could also create a database through My Little Admin by running an SQL script of the database I have, right?

Please excuse my inexperience and thanks for all your help!

    Hi Blade,

You need to create a website which will give you a wwwroot folder:

     http://help.dotnetpanel.com/User%20Guide/Managing%20Web%20Sites.aspx#Section1

You will need to import your current databases via a bak file:

    Re: FAO: Ultima Mark

I've done both tasks but when I upload the site's files (images, homepage, masterpages, etc) into the wwwroot folder and go to my domain name (which, for some wierd reason, still comes up as unregistered if I do a domain name search), nothing comes up. Also, what goes in the network host value for the mail settings of the web config file?

    Thanks

    Hello Blade,

We don't register the domain name for you so you will need to do this via a domain register or you can use our service here:

    Re: FAO: Ultima Mark

From that url it does not list .co.uk in the extensions for domain transfer. My domain ends in .co.uk :S

Sorry now I see you mean transfer a domain. It looks like we don't have that for .co.uk.

    Re: FAO: Ultima Mark

What I'm trying to do is point .co.uk to my website (so when people visit the domain the site comes up of course). Is this not possible? From that link you posted I can buy a .co.uk domain and that's your own company too.

    Blade-

It looks like you just purchased your domain 2 days ago (8/19).  It can take up to 72 hours for your DNS entries to be updated.  DNS entries indicate which hosting company will serve up your web site.  That is likely the problem because when I ping your site, it cannot be found.

    Re: FAO: Ultima Mark

Also, try this free tool to analyze your domain:

    www.dnsstuff.com

When I run a DNS report for your domain there are several problems (many of which could be due to the DNS entries not being completely updated), but here is one that Ultima might be able to help resolve:

Basically, your site is .co.uk, but your DNS records are .com.  This can cause delays, which is likely why your DNS records have not completely updated yet.  I'm not sure if Ultima has any .co.uk DNS servers or not.  Your best bet is to submit a support ticket:  support@ultimahosts.net

    Re: FAO: Ultima Mark

Sorry, looks like the picture didn't go through.  Here is the message from dnsstuff.com:

WARNGlue at parent nameserversWARNING. The parent servers (I checked with ns6.nic.uk.) are not providing glue for all your nameservers. This means that they are supplying the NS records (host.example.com), but not supplying the A records (192.0.2.53), which can cause slightly slower connections, and may cause incompatibilities with some non-RFC-compliant programs. This is perfectly acceptable behavior per the RFCs. This will usually occur if your DNS servers are not in the same TLD as your domain (for example, a DNS server of "ns1.example.org" for the domain "example.com"). In this case, you can speed up the connections slightly by having NS records that are in the same TLD as your domain.
