Hi William,

You could add the extra resources to your current setup instead if you wanted to. In the case of the Unlimited plans this would cause them to be capped at the current domain number. So if you added 2 GB of space and had 10 domains it would result in you having 4 GB with a cap of 10 domains (ie the Unlimited becomes a 10 domain account).

If a referral client cancels their plan then you would either need to pay for the resources / plan or surrender it - if you were a reseller you would be able to purchase it at half price.

So I only get the free account/resources as long as the referral client is still with you?  Even after a long period of time (such as after the first year)?

The Unlimited plan is a little too rich for my blood right now.  The Reseller and Professional are more feasible.  I may go with the Reseller plan given your half-price comment.

That is correct and the referral bonus is for the first year only - ie after that you can purchase the bonus for 50% off the retail price.

Hi itechcs,

That is right. It's a one off referral fee which you are able to resell. To maximise your income you should have your referral sign up under your reseller plan as then you are making 100% profit per year.

Wow Mark...it just might be a long time before I look around for another host. It doesn't seem like you all are too interested in making money, and I like that!

hahaha...jokes aside, I think this is actually a pretty generous deal itechcs, considering:

1) granted i've only had an account for a short period, but ultima hosts seems very reliable (ESPECIALLY customer service, in the rare instances you may need it)

2) so, chances are your referrees will not switch hosts.

3) again, just going off integrity, do you know that many other hosts that have this good of a referral program, much less advising you on how to maximize your profits?

Believe me, I'm itching to buy that Success.Net plan!  I'm still using my 7 day trial and everything is going well so far.  I've already requested my refund from WebHosts4Life, so I'll probably pull the trigger on going with Ultima tonight!  I've got until mid November before my other host (1and1) bills me for another 3 months of hosting so that will give me plenty of time to really test things out before I pull the plug on them.

Thanks for the feedback. Basically the money is still important as it allows us to do what we love to do - but it isn't the chariot leading the horse :).

I think we differ from so many hosting companies because we are first and foremost developers (.Net) and really want to create an environment that leverages the power of developers. Developers and designers should run the Internet as they are inevitably the ones who do all the work and get all the clients.

Forget the hosting Fat Cats who sit around counting heads and wouldn't know an overloaded class from an overloaded server. For them it is a business and for us its a lifestyle. Most hosting companies are very top heavy too with lots of advertising and customer support staff who work off a salary. We don't do that as each of our members owns a part of Ultima and they genarate their own income from this. Also we don't advertise as I personally believe that word of mouth is a lot more powerful. And we don't pay silly support staff who have no idea what is really going on with the service. All the support staff you talk to at Ultima can jump on your server right away and fix the problem.
