    Database Backup Issue

I tried backing up my database into local folder, but before the process completes its backup the page timedout, not sure the database backup is proper or not. Also, it was in zip format so it should have taken less time.

    Hi Vishwa,

Can you let me know the URL and I will take a look. Also do you know how big the database currently is?

    Cheers,

    Mark

    Hi Vishwa,

Not sure why it didn't work for you but I was able to restore it first time. Please let me know if that is working now.

    Cheers,

I never told you to restore the database. I was taking backup which I could not do and copy on my local machine. Where did i say to restore my database??? Please check any of my post if I said so

I had backup issue not the restore issue. Can you please make a full backup and dump into my data/backup area so that I can copy it locally. Your page times out. PLEASE DO NOT RESTORE.

    Re: Database Backup Issue

    Hi Vishwa,

Yes I agree that I misread your post. Sorry about that. I have restored your database to the server and will see if I can restore that one to your local folder.

    Re: Database Backup Issue

    Hi Vishwa,

Tried to restore and it does time out. Looks like there is a size limit on getting a database to restore to your local folder. I'll look into a solution for this.

    Re: Database Backup Issue

So how do we create a backup of db? Are db backup nightly by Ultima? I see options to back up db via web sql client but it keeps timing out when I go and try to view my database.

Have you tried using scheduled tasks in DNP?  I use them to backup databases nightly to zip files...works well.

Hmm just tried. I'm have Standard.Net package and I get the following error when I try to schedule a backup

"You should have Reseller priviledges to perform this operation"

    Re: Database Backup Issue

That would be a question for Ultima.  I have a Reseller package so I'm not sure if scheduled tasks are exclusive to Reseller packages or not.

Nevertheless, you should also be able to manually make a backup of the DB via DNP:

On the list of databases, click the DB you want to backup, then expand the "Maintenance Tools" and click Backup.  You will then be prompted for a filename and the option to download the backup immediately via HTTP or to copy the backup to a folder on your hosting plan.
