    FTP

What are the setting to log into my FTP account?

I know the ftp address, but what are the port settings, if any?

    I keep getting disconnected.

    Thanks,

    Doyen

    Re: FTP

    Hi Doyen,

If you try ftp.domainname.com [replace domainname.com with your domain] and enter your FTP credentials this should work. If you haven't FTP'ed into your site since we made the change from Plesk to Dot Net Panel then your FTP login will need to be reset. You can do this by logging into dot net panel and clicking on FTP accounts.

We also recommend that you use a FTP client such as WS_FTP and that you have the FTP client set for passive mode so that it can navigate the server firewall.

    Cheers,

    Re: FTP

Here is a link to download WS_FTP which we use and recommend. Seems to be the best FTP client for our service:

    Re: FTP

I used to use WS_FTP before i found SmartFTP. It has a lot of bells and whistles that i think ws_ftp doesnt have, such as the ability to have an upload queue/multithreaded uploads.

However, for some reason, I can't get the upload queue/multithreaded uploads to work on ultima hosts's server (the queue simply stops trying). I have to resort to the regular "drag-and-drop" method of uploading. this means i actually have to stick around and do it, instead of just pressing a button to begin a prepared queue.

I wonder if it's some server setting that prevents the queueing/multithreading? the other hosts i use support it.

    Re: FTP

I also had lost ftp-access. In FileZilla change transfer mode settings from 'Default' to 'Use active mode' und ftp-access is back again.

    Re: FTP

    Hi Nicolo,

Thanks for that. We suspect that a recent update by MS threw our FTP settings from passive to active. These seems too much of a coincidence that after we ran the updates all the FTP accounts suddenly had problems in passive mode.

    Cheers,
