I'm in the process of moving a site to Ultima Hosts, and it has a MySQL database. I have a zipped copy of the db, and I haven't been able to figure out how to restore it. It was an easy process with a SQL Server db.

 Could someone please provide some guidance?

Sorry, I don't use MySQL.

I would imagine it can be done via DNP.  I would guess create a new DB, then under Maintenance restore a backup and select the backup file you uploaded.

Of course when I try to create a MySQL DB in DNP, it is taking a long time (more than 2 minutes).

I had tried exactly that - having done the same with a SQL Server db with no problems - unfortunately, after creating a MySQL db nd going to Maintenance, I didn't have a restore option - only a backup! Maybe you only get a restore button after you backup with DNP??? Anyhow, I submitted a ticket, and they got me straightened out pronto!

What was the solution they provided?

I just remembered that I have a free GUI tool called SQLyog (www.webyog.com).  It has a backup function.

Hi Bruce,

   I am by now means a MySQL guru, but I've seen other customers accomplish this by exporting a bunch of Sql Insert statements and then running these Sql statements via SQLyog.  I believe SQLyog also has a function to generate these scripts for you.

I setup phpMyAdmin to handle most of my database stuff.  I create the database from DNP, then do any further administration from phpMyAdmin.

Thanks, JD... it makes perfect sense that there would be a management tool for MySQL too! I've just downloaded it and will set it up today for future use.

I think that's what I had was a scriptlike thing (note carefully the technical terms!) that when Ultima Tech Support ran for me, built the database! All I know is that it is now in place and working and once again, Ultima does a fabulous job!!!
