    DotNetNuke

Any idea when DNN 4.5.3 will be added to the Application Installer?

    Thank you.

    Re: DotNetNuke

    Hello Oliver,

4.5.1 has now been installed but I am not sure when 4.5.3 will be available.

    Cheers,

    Mark

    Re: DotNetNuke

DNN 4.5.3 was released on 5/31/07.  Not sure if there is a separate "installer" for DNP that needs to be released or not.

    Re: DotNetNuke

can we now be upgraded to 4.6.2?  Visit http://forum.dotnetpanel.com/files/folders/applicationpacks/entry16871.aspx for that.

May i suggest a company task item based on releases of dnn? Surely it wouldn't be too hard to check back there every few weeks, and when a release is out, google "dnn 4.6.2 dnp" (match to release # of course Ü) and you will find the AppPack.. Just a thought to stay current.. cheers, drew..

    Re: DotNetNuke

DNN is now at 4.7. The action pack is ready at http://forum.dotnetpanel.com/files/folders/application_installer_packs_220_above/entry17858.aspx. There is absolutely no reason not to install this so that we can use it. Please explain why this is taking so long to keep DNN installers up-to-date?  drew..

    Re: DotNetNuke

Drew, dude, chill out.  That installer was released just 9 days ago.  Ultima does have a few other things to take care of (installing security patches, etc) and I'm sure they would like to test the installers before they make them available to us.  Nothing worse than implementing something new that just fails.

If you are so anxious to use the latest and greatest, just upgrade your site using their upgrade pack.  I've done that before and it works just fine.

BTW, there are several ASP.Net Starter Kits available that Ultima has not setup yet.

    Re: DotNetNuke

thanks kindly for your advice Will. Current offering is 4.5.5. We have asked a few times already with no reply. Start kits are not in the same category as dnn. I have upgraded many times, using dnn back to pre-dnn days. This is a business question, not a trivial whine, but thank you for your concern.

    drew:

Sure they are.  While Starter Kits are not as robust as DNN, some of them still perform the same functions.  CMS, Blogs, eCommerce, etc.  And Starter Kits may be more important to someone else than DNN is to you.

To quote an earlier suggestion of yours:

    drew:

I'm not saying your concern is a trivial whine.  Believe me, I am all for keeping things updated, but it's only been 9 days and your suggestion was "every few weeks".

If you don't mind me asking, why do you feel 9 days is too long for Ultima to go without updating the DNN installer?

hi Will.. i am very tired, so i won't press this. The current installer is 4.5.5. I simply want an update.  Enough said.

    Re: DotNetNuke

OK put your handbags away as we have now done an application update to the main DNP site.

The reason we don't update more often as a FYI is that we have multiple DNP instances and it takes some time to update them all. So if an application has an update every 2 months expect to see this updated in DNP every 6 months.

You can of course do your own updates. And also please feel free to post application packs to DNP forums where they will be added to the download section.

    Cheers,

    Mark

    Re: DotNetNuke

considering DotNetPanel runs on DotNetNuke, one would hazard a suggestion that perhaps at least this installer package could be updated more frequently. We are at 4.8.4 with dnn now. The installer pack is here. Thanks kindly, drew..

    Re: DotNetNuke

Just to let you know that DNP doesn't run on DNN. It did initially but they dropped it in favor of a lighter thin client. It made all the difference and is why we change to it from Plesk.

    That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure.
