How do I set directory permissions?

I installed community server and noticed that the file uploads do not work.  To fix the problem I need to give ASPNET permissions on these folders:

    blogs/files, photos/cache, photos/storage, files/storage, Utility/RankIcons, Utility/RoleIcons

I just don't see how to do it in the control panel....am I missing something?

    Hi there,

If you  can submit a ticket to support they will take care of this for you. In our new control panel you will be able to do this yourself.

    Cheers,

I see this capability under the new dotnetpanel but it looks like we can only set permissions from the root of the site on down.  How do I set write access to a single folder \upload for example?

In DNP, navigate in the File Manager until you see the folder you need to change permissions on.  Then click on the "lock" icon and a window will pop-up.  Scroll to the bottom and give "Write" access to the "Network Service" account.

Re: How do I set directory permissions?

I just posted a related question under the DNP section.  Are you using Mozilla Firefox (or other non-IE browser)?  If so, the Ajax window or panel that should pop up to set the permissions fails to show if you're not using the Internet Explorer.  I've only tested using Firefox (version 2.0.0.2) and Internet Explorer, so I can't say how other browsers will behave.  If you're using Firefox, try the IE instead.

I have only done this using IE 6.0 and it works.

    Hi Vestry,

Yes, we've heard of issues with this using FireFox.  We've submitted it to DotNetPanel, but don't have an ETA for a fix.  In the meantime, you can always submit a ticket to support@ultimahosts.net and we'll be happy to change the permissions for you on the server.

I was able to change the permission after figuring out that FireFox won't work, but IE does.
